In acronyms, GPE (LH:#), short for “greatest physicist ever”, key: (GPE:#) refers generally to the Hmolpedia rankings of the greatest "physicists" of all time.

Overview

In 1930s, Lev Landau, famously carried around a "genius scale" in his pocket, ranking all physicists of his day on a logarithmic scale, considering, supposedly, those above him to be "superior intellects" and those below him "fools".[1]

In 2011, Libb Thims, among focused genius rankings, began to draft the "greatest physicist ever" (GPE) rankings, via meta-analysis, in table form, getting up to 120+ names. Existographies of top physicists, in Hmolpedia, thereafter began to be keyed as (GPE:#).[2]
