In encyclopedias, Wikipedia (LH:#) refers to []

In 2001, Wikipedia was launched by Jim Wales, stylized as a wiki-editing based, community-written encyclopedia, inspired in some sense by the idea of Denis Diderot’s 1751-launched multi-volume enlightenment Encyclopedia, written by a community of 100+ progressive authors, in an A to Z format, with cross-references, e.g. the Eucharist article famously cross-referenced via a see also to "cannibalism".

The following are quotes:

Diderot is the patron saint of Wikipedia.”
Jimmy Wales (c.2018), “Comment to Andrew Curran”[1]
